The theme of the Eurosea12 is “Developing Scouting through Sea Scouting”. The event will be held Bruges, Belgium, 10 – 14 September 2014.
Ongoing aims of Eurosea Seminars
- Develop the international dimension of Sea Scouting;
- Share best practices and ideas for developing Sea Scouting;
- Promote safe practices.
Objectives:
- Enhance a framework that encourages the international exchange of ideas and resources;
- Build a multifaceted view of Sea Scouting in Europe;
- Provide collective solutions and ideas for individual challenges or opportunities;
- Ensure that each participant has the opportunity to meet and discuss issues and ideas with colleagues from other associations;
- Elect new members of the Odysseus Group (see Additional information);
- Selecting the Eurosea 13 host country.
Who should attend Eurosea (participants’ profile)?
- Members or prospective members of national or regional teams that support Sea Scouting;
- Representatives of National Scout Associations (NSOs) and member organizations interested in introducing water activities, particularly members of national or regional program teams or similar bodies;
- Sea Scout and Guide leaders interested in international Sea Scouting;
- Participants are expected to be able to communicate well in English and be capable of using electronic communication media (e.g., e-mail, Facebook).
What can you expect?
- An active seminar, “hands-on” activities, and various opportunities for exchanges in both formal and informal settings;
- International guests, including professionals in safety regulations at sea and inland waters;
- Scouting activities, e.g. campfires, “sail the talk” and morning ceremonies;
- Time for informal idea sharing discussions and networking.
