The meeting will be held from Friday the 4th (14:00) till Sunday the 6th of April 2014 (14:00), in the beautiful Castle of Jambville, about 1 hour out of Paris. This castle is the National training centre of Scouts et Guides de France (SGDF) who are the lucky ones to host us this time.
Educational program
The main theme of this event will be “CityScouting – Scouting in the city” and will handle around all aspects of creating scouting in the big cities and towns we all know.
Cities can be challenging environments for scout-groups. Big cities are a melting pot of cultures, with a lot of social differences between people, different languages, religions,… Also cities might be overcrowded, suffer from traffic, there are less places to play or hang around for children and youngsters. On the other hand, big challenges create big opportunities,… Ever played wheelchair-football on the rooftop of a building, or engaged with random (loitering) children that happened to be in the same park,…?
One of the sessions will handle the ongoing project in France called “Scoutisme en Quartiers” or “Scouting in the suburbs”. next to that there will be different sessions around both fields of diversity (social diversity and scouting for kids with a disability). Also this time we will try to make more time for your own input, projects, questions,…
